New Delhi, Oct 16: Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha said on Monday that the long-term investors would make profits from the domestic stock market though the current volatility had caused concern among them. "It is a long term game. If your see the stock market performance in the long term, it has given more profits than investments in other sectors," he told the Economic Editors Conference here.Replying to a query on the depressed sentiments in the Indian stock markets, Sinha said that the Indian bourses react a great deal to the international sentiments due to high investments by foreign institutional investors.
"If you see the Asian stock markets, the US market, the European market, this year there has been volatility every where," he said.
Sinha said besides the FII investments, tapping of GDR and ADR markets by Indian companies also brought in Indian bourses closer to the international sentiments.
He said the Sebi had taken several measures to safe guard the interests of the small investors in the stock markets.
