KPN to issue new shares on November 20 

 
Frankfurt: The Dutch telecoms group KPN expects to issue the new shares in its planned capital increase on November 20, 2000 the company's Financial Chief Marteen Henderson said here on Monday. Speaking at a news conference here, Marteen Henderson said that the subscription period for the new shares was expected to begin on November 6, 2000 .

The company was not only planning to issue new shares, but also a convertible bond, for which the subscription period would begin on November 13, 2000 .

The company was scheduled to launch an investors roadshow on Tuesday, with its capital increase targetted at investors in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, the United States and Spain.

Marteen Henderson said that The company planned to announce a number of acquisitions, alliances and joint ventures to strengthen the company's position in the European countries.

"We're aming at a better position in Europe. But if you come from Holland, you can't improve your position via organic growth. You have to do it via acquisitions, partnerships or joint ventures," Marteen Henderson said.

However, The company would not be prepared to make any acquisitions at whatever price. "Each purchase must be studied carefully," Marteen Henderson said.
