`AgriFare 2000' will result in overseas JVs and MoUs

Ahmedabad, Oct 11: A 20-member high-level delegation from Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (USA) and business delegations from 10 countries will participate in `AgriFare 2000', being organised by the CII here from Oct 12 to 15. AgriFare is being hosted by CII-Gujarat in collaboration with the Union ministry of food processing, Gujarat Government's agriculture and co-operative department, Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation (GAIC), Nabard, Apeda and NHB.

The Pennsylvanian delegation which will partner Gujarat, is headed by secretary of agriculture, Mr Samuel E Hayes, Jr. It will include academicians, agricultural scientists and corportate heads. According to CII, ambassadors and consul generals , besides the 3000 delegates attending the convention, one lakh visitors are also expected to visit. Several joint ventures will be struck between overseas firms in India and vice versa.

The MoUs to be signed include: Penn State University and Gujarat Agriculture Univ, Delaware Valley College, Saint Joseph's Univ and IIM-Ahmedabad. The Castor Development Institute will also be launched at the meet. Union minister of state for agro-processing will inaugurate the convention and Gujarat CM will unveil `Gujarat Agro Vision 2010'.
