Tarini Interactive Systems Pvt Ltd has launched their multi-media information kiosks for railway related queries. The interactive kiosks have been installed at about 11 railway stations across the country and the company has permission to install over 250 kiosks. The kiosks are an attempt to provide organised data for railway passengers through touch screen based operations. The company has invested about Rs 5 crore in the venture and targets revenues primarily from advertising.
The information at the kiosks will contain national and suburban railway time tables covering more than 10,000 stations for all categories of passenger trains along with their fare charts, rules and regulations, facilities and passenger amenities provided at each station and zonal railway information.
The MIK also provides comprehensive city information including the tourist locations and maps. While these kiosks will be provided free of cost to the railways, the company plans to derive its revenue from the advertisements on the MIK. Online ticketing and e-commerce transactions would drive the revenues in the future according to Mr Dilip Chabria, director marketing, Tarini Interactive Systems.
