10th India Knit Fair at Tirupur from Oct 17

Our Bureau
Coimbatore, Oct 9: The 10th India Knit Fair (IKF) will be held in Tirupur from October 17. The three day fair will showcase autumn/winter and mid-summer collections for 2001. Around 50 garment exporters will participate in the fair. "The IKF provides the ideal platform for emerging fashion trends of the future. Visitors get the opportunity to interact directly with leading garment manufacturers," officials of the India Knit Fair Association said. The Association is set up jointly by the Apparel Export Promotion Council and the Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA).

TEA president, Mr A Sakthivel, claimed that international buyers have started shifting their sourcing bases from neighbouring countries to India."We are moving towards mid-fashion garment production. Moreover, the buyers have started looking for huge volumes," he said while citing reasons for buyers shifting base. Mr Sakthivel said that NID will be meeting foreign buyers to evolve a `Made in Tirupur' brand identity for the knitwear products.
