Kochi: Indianodysseys.com, launched in Mumbai on August 15, has set its eyes on the tourism potential of Kerala. With National Geographic declaring Kerala as one of the world's 50 exotic sites, Indianodysseys.com has launched its activities here as part of the Kerala Travel Mart which concluded here last week. The India-centric portal is the creation and venture of Exotic Portals (India) Pvt Ltd, a VM Group company.
Portal CEO Mr AG Iyer told mediapersons here that the group had identified tourism and global tourists and travellers as a wealth to be created and nurtured. The response to the mart was tremendous and Indianodysseys.com had decided that its travel and tour efforts would start with Kerala. Operations in Kerala would serve as a model to other states, Mr Iyer added.
Making it a vertical bell, the portal intends to provide primary services like online consultations with experts on travel, health sojourns, Ayurveda, etc. The bell portal will act as an information highway for anything and everything on Kerala. It will involve in everything from tourist entry to exit. For Kerala, the portal has identified tour operators and also resort owners. The portal will help keep away the intermediaries, according to Mr Iyer. It will arrange tailor-made holiday packages termed Panchakarma Holidays which will be promoted under the ayurvedic holidays called `Healing and Rejuvenation'.
About the business opportunity, Mr Iyer says the portal has already 250 registered members and on an average gets between 2,000 to 3,000 hits per day. The portal's revenue sources will be a mix of secondary-level membership, referral programme, e-commerce on the services and products, strategic alliances and advertisement revenue, he added.
