A Secret hideout space on the world wide web. Loads of free disk space. Store anything you want. Save documents, upload video clips, make your audio clip collection, edit files or share files. Just drag and drop a file or multiple files from your PC to the Web - a virtual C drive. That is the core of the site, threemumkeys.com, launched by Zensar Technologies Ltd, an RPG group company.
Zensar Technologies, formerly known as ICICL, launched threemumkeys.com in Pune, where it has been testing the waters. A prelude to the national launch being planned by the company. threemumkeys.com has built a base of 6000 users in two months. "The idea was to introduce the concept of free space.
Some of them have already started uploading their files," says Mr Shouvik K Majumdar, regional manager of Zensar who is heading the threemumkeys project.
"We will be offering 10 mb free disk space and users will not be charged anything," says Mr Majumdar. The focus being on just popularising the concept and building a critical mass. "The business model is getting finalised and we are also readying our marketing plans," Mr Majumdar adds.
The target is the 18 to 24 group. The rationale for the site is that access to PCs for students is either through their educational institutions or through Net cafes where the PCs are shared and no space is available for personal use. They will be offered free disk space supported with an Internet based file system that will allow them to use the site in the way they like with total security assured, says Mr Kumar Gaurav, assistant manager - business development, Zensar.
The infrastructure created by the company has hardware that can take care of one lakh users and software that is scalable to accommodate one million users, Mr Gaurav adds.
These uploaded files can used exclusively by the person of it can be used with a defined community of 15 to 20 users. Files can be shared across the globe.
The company is also considering packaging the site as a virtual private network or a conference room on the Net and offering it to small business as substitute to B2B before they can migrate successfully to a B2B market space.
