An Indian American will join global cereals giant Kellogg's as vice president and chief information officer next week. Announcing the appointment of Mr Rajan Nagarajan, Mr Thomas J Webb, the firm's executive vice-president and chief financial officer, said Mr Nagarajan would join on October 12. "Leadership in the use of information technology (IT) is a key part of Kellogg Company's growth strategy.Mr Rajan Nagarajan brings not just outstanding technology experience but also exceptional people, organization, and leadership skills to this critically important role for Kellogg Company," Mr Webb said. Mr Nagarajan was formerly with Ford Motor Company, where he served most recently as director, enterprise process and IT integration. He began his career as an engineer and transitioned to IT consulting. He joined Ford Motor Company in 1986 as a systems analyst and rapidly moved through the Ford information technology organization to positions of increasing responsibility.
During his career at Ford, he held many key IT positions supporting product development and engineering, technical services, marketing and sales, human resources and finance. He also led Ford's IT efforts in the Asia-Pacific region. He has a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science at Pilani, Rajasthan, a masters in business administration from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta and a master of science degree in computer science from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
