RIL increases polymer prices

Mumbai, Oct 3: Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has hiked the prices of polyester, polymer products and fibre intermediates with effect from October one in the wake of the recent surge in the prices of global crude oil.

The company has effected an 18.9 per cent increase in the price of polyster yarn to Rs 66 per kg against Rs 55.5 per kg prevailing as on September one while the price of polyester staple fibre has been left unchanged at Rs 55.5 per kg, according to company sources.

In the polymers segment, the price of polyethylene has been increased by two per cent to Rs 52 per kg, polypropylene by 5.5 per cent to Rs 48.15 per kg while the price of polyvinyl chloride has been hiked by 2.3 per cent to Rs 45 per kg, the sources said. In the fibre intermediates category, RIL has effected an increase of 1.9 per cent on the price of purified terepthalic acid to Rs 34.25 per kg while on monoethylene glycol the rise is 2.7 per cent to Rs 34.2 per kg.
