Hind Inks achieves backward integration
Hindustan Inks and Resins Ltd, the largest manufacturer of printing inks in the country, has become the third company in the world to achieve backward integration fully with its newly commissioned plant in Vapi.NSE revokes PAL suspension
The National Stock Exchange (NSE), which had suspended trading in the equity shares of Premier Automobiles Ltd from November 17, 1999, on account of non-compliance of provisions of the listing agrement, has decided to revoke the suspension from October 4, 2000.
New GM for Singapore Airlines
Mr Wong Hong has been appointed the new general manager of Singapore Airlines (SIA) in India replacing Mr Lean Kian Hai, who will take up his new position in Frankfurt as V-P Europe of SIA's new cargo company. Mr Wong before coming to India was the general manager, SIA, Thailand.
KLM-Northwest flights
KLM-Northwest will raise the number of weekly flights between Amsterdam and Indian destinations from 14 to 21. Northwest will begin operating daily roundtrip flights to Delhi and three to Mumbai.
Travel Agents Association chief
Thomas Cook (I) chairman Pradip Madhavji was unanimously elected as the president for 2000-2001 of the Travel Agents Association of India for the second consecutive year. Mrs Shubhada Joshi, Mr Balbir Mayal and Mr YP Bhatia also were re-elected as the honorary secretary general, vice-president and honorary treasurer, respectively.
Strides Arcolab CMD bags award
Strides Arcolab chairman and managing director Arun Kumar was conferred the Ernst and Young India's award for `Manufacturing' at a function held in Delhi. The programme is an annual honour awarded to individuals in several categories.
La Opala shares delisting
The shareholders of La Opala RG Ltd have unanimously approved the resolution regarding voluntary delisting of shares of the company in the Ahmedabad Stock Exchange at the annual general meeting held on September 8, 2000.
Indo-Italian trade
Italian Trade Commissioner Dr Cornelio Zani said that Italian consumers demand novelty and Indian businesses to be effective in the sophisticated Italian markets must compete with a strong Made in India label. He was speaking on the prospects of Indo-Italian trade at a seminar in Mumbai organised by MVIRDC World Trade Centre.
Govt recognition for Chenab unit
The Government of India has recognised the in-house R&D unit of Chenab Information Technologies beyond March 31, 2000, to March 31, 2003. The company is currently working towards developing and designing B2B and B2C applications.
Registered with BIFR
Indo-French Biotech Enterprises has informed the BSE that it has been registered with BIFR. It has also informed that there are 20 cases pending u/s 138 involving a sum of Rs 296.95 lakh and there are charges of oppression and mismanagement filed by MMTC before CLB, New Delhi.
Italian eco team coming
A high-powered Italian mission is visiting India to explore the possibility of cooperation with India in environmental management. The delegation comprises representatives of Arpa (the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection in Lombardy), representatives of Promos (Special Agency of the Milan Chamber of Commerce) and Promoroma (Special Agency of the Rome Chamber of Commerce).
FIEO hails govt decision
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has commended the decision of the government to increase the permissible limit of approved expenditure from 25 per cent to 50 per cent for opening offices in Latin American countries by recognised export houses, trading houses, recognised export groups and consortia of small scale units.
