New Delhi, Oct 3: Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) is still reviewing the quantum of price hike to be effected on its three models - Omni, Maruti 800 and Wagon-R, company managing director Jagdish Khattar said.The company had in July cut prices on the three models for a limited period of three months and recently hinted at a hike in prices after October 1.``We had a string of holidays starting October 1 and are now in the process of reviewing the price issue,'' Mr Khattar told here on Tuesday.
However, he refused to commit a time frame for effecting the hike. ``We are reviewing it and no decision has been taken so far. That's all I can say for now.''
It may be recalled that at the launch of the company's latest small car Alto, MUL director finance AR Halasyam had said that though the exact quantum of hike has not been finalised as yet, the company has decided to raise prices of the three models in view of the imminent hike in oil prices and depreciation of rupee.
Maruti had announced a 4-10 per cent cut in prices of M800, Omni and Wagon-R. While the price of the bread-and-butter car Maruti 800 was trimmed by Rs 23,000 to Rs 198,979 and that of Wagon-R by Rs 25,000, the price tag of Omni was trimmed by Rs 12,000.
The price tag of Maruti 800 Standard (Euro-I model) was dropped by Rs 22,901 at Rs 1,98,979, while the price of Standard version with multi-point fuel injection (MPI) was slashed by Rs 20,000 at Rs 2,12,446. The M-800 Ex MPI model was repriced at Rs 2,41,796, down Rs 10,000 from Rs 2,51,796 earlier, and the price tag of M-800 DX MPI was trimmed by Rs 15,000 at Rs 2,59,569.
