Indiaconstruction.com cements growth strategy

Our eFE BureauChennai: Indiaconstruction.com, a B2B portal for the construction industry, has chalked out ambitious growth plans and expects enquiries worth Rs 3,000 crore to be put through it during the next calendar year. Till date, orders for Rs 300 crore have been put through the portal.

The portal plans to be a full service provider for the construction industry and its clientele includes construction companies, manufacturers and traders.

According to Mr Rohit Gera, chief executive officer of the company, considering the limited reach of the Internet among certain sections such as traders, the portal has put in place innovative schemes such as `Net to fax' (information on the Net is automatically faxed) and provides information on a daily basis through courier which allows all subscribers to be updated on the latest orders posted on the site.

The portal plans to have a strong off-line presence. About 20 branches across the country are planned by the end of this year. Currently, branch offices are operational in major cities.

Indiaconstructions.com is in the process of tying up with a transportation portal so that the clients logistics requirement will be taken care of. Value-added services such as certification of quality, buyer and seller are planned.

The company earns its revenues from the subscription fees from the sellers and traders. Later, a percentage of the value of the goods transacted through the portal will be collected.
