Maharashtra PWD dept launches two Websites

Henceforth contractors involved in civil and public works can file tenders online and tourists can book guest houses online in Maharashtra. In addition to this, commuters can avoid traffic jams and take another routes. This would be possible following the launch of two websites www.mahapwd.com and www.pwd.maharashtra.gov.in by the state public works department headed by Mr Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil. These sites would promote government to consumer, government to business and government to government activities. These sites which were launched today by the state governor Dr PC Alexander in the presence of chief minister Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh and other ministers give detailed information of public works department's organisation structure, ongoing projects, road safety measures, rest houses, parks and gardens, its computerisation programme, happenings, update news, frequently asked questions, photo gallery and above all feedback to the site visitor.These sites also offer information related to quality control, registration procedure, district schedule rates, notice inviting tenders, list of registered contractors, day to day circulars. These sites also provide e-mail services to its visitors. Mr Mohite-Patil said that his department has tried to be more transparent and open through the launch of these websites. Mr AK Jagtap, PWD chief engineer said that these sites have been developed with active participation of Pune-based C-Dac. These sites would provide connectivity at 50 Mbps which would be extended up to 250 Mbps in due course of time. Mr Jagtap said that the visitor could download the information related to various applications, tender notices and guest house reservation forms through these Websites. Mr Jagtap said that these Websites would provide no objection certificate needed from the public works department for various reasons.
