Clarification
This is with reference to the story ``Finally: Sharma to take over as CMD of MTNL'' carried on September 6. The statement ``The appointment had been delayed because of a vigilance enquiry'' refers to a routine vigilance enquiry of the entire panel considered for the post of CMD MTNL. There was no implication in terms of any specific enquiry against Mr Sharma, whose track record is impeccable. The misconstruction is regretted.
