New Delhi, Sept 3: In a bid to transform Uttar Pradesh into Udyog Pradesh, the UP government has initiated several measures including implementation of information technology projects in active participation from private sector.The state which secured second place in software exports has tied-up with Ambanis for laying 12,000 kms Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) and is expected to rope in several US-based companies during the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to the US, the UP, chief secreatry Yogendra Narian told press persons on Saturday.
While laying foundation stone for the new office complex of the Greater Noida Industries Association, Mr Narain said the power supply which was the lifeline of industrial ventures would be improved substantially in the coming months.
``Three power projects with a total capacity of 1100 megawatt will be completed on schedule.
The three projects - 500 mw Rosa Thermal Power station in Shahjehanpur, 230 mw Srinagar and 370 mw Vishnu Pryag - will be executed through private sector participation.
To introduce reforms and improve power situation in the power sector, the UP State Electricity Board (UPSEB) has been hived off into three separate entities and distribution and transmission of electricity will be handed over to the private sector.
A memorandum of understanding has already been signed with Kanpur Electric Supply Copmpany (KESCO).
Currently, the state receives only 1900 mw out of its central allocation of 2800 mw but due to outstanding dues on this front, the state could not avail the entire quota from the central pool, he added.
The state has registered its presence in capital investment as one of the third largest investment destination.
According to data available from the Union industry ministry ``Out of the total investment proposals worth Rs 76,000 crore recieved, Rs 52,000 industrial projects have been implemented during the last five years'' Mr Narain said.
During the chief minister Ram Prakash Gupta's last visit to Mumbai in August, investment proposals worth Rs 25,000 crore were recieved.
