New Delhi, Sept 3: Korean consumer electronics major Samsung India has flagged off its first export consignment of 40,000 colour televisions (CTVs) to Western Europe as part of the company's plans to make India an export hub for neighbouring markets."We have shipped out the first consignment of CTVs which carry the label of `Made in India'. Starting with a modest export of 60,000 units this year, we should be in a position to increase this to about 2 lakh units next year," SIEL managing director KS Kim said.
The exports will initially consists of 14-inch televisions, he said. He added, "Apart from European markets, the company is also exploring other overseas markets, especially those in other South Asian countries."
SIEL is also examining the possibility of exporting other products from its home appliances range, Kim said, adding, "nothing has been finalised so far".
The company has recorded sales worth Rs 550 crore during the first six months of the current calendar year with a 60:40 sales ratio in favour of consumer electronics. The rest comes from the home appliances segment.
