Sebi may take to TV, radio for investor awareness

Mumbai, Aug 31: At the fifth meeting of the working group on investor education held on Thursday at Sebi head office it was decided to explore the possibility of having free slots in the audio-visual media, including FM channels on radio and on television through the directorate of audio, visual publicity under the information and broadcasting ministry.It was also decided to have educative programmes for investors through the UGC and Ignou.Sebi, incidentally, is in the process of organising open houses in various cities throughout India to obtain feedback from investors to enable them to air their grievances against companies. It was decided at today's meeting to invite representatives of companies, stock exchanges and investor associations to the open house session.So far about one crore Sebi booklets titled 'A quick reference guide for investors' have been circulated among investors by companies like ICICI, IDBI, Reliance, Bank of India, Larsen & Toubro, Tisco, HLL, SBI and Corporation Bank.
