Delhi Steel exporters plans meet on Sept

Mumbai: The Delhi-based Steel Exporters Forum is organising a one-day seminar on `New Ways of Doing Steel Business in World Markets, Its Potential and Challenges Ahead'. The seminar will be held in Mumbai on September 11.E-commerce has opened new avenues for business in the steel industry. Its time that the industry players grabs new opportunities, but before this appreciate the scope of these opportunities and challenges ahead as also understand the constraints. Already companies like e-STEEL, MetalSite, i-SteelAsia, MetaMaker, MetalNet, SteelRX, SteelexchangeIndia, Clickforstee, nationalsteelexchange, etc are working in the area of e-commerce in steel.

Leading steel industry analysts, World Steel Dynamics, have predicted an explosive growth in steel e-commerce transactions in the years ahead. An unprecedented rise in B2B deals on the Internet taking around 60 % of total transaction in the steel industry on the Internet. Provided there is no threat of cartelisation in the industry, e-commerce should benefit steel consumers considerably by promoting a more competitive environment for doing business. Accordingly, various related subjects will be discussed at the seminar exploring the potential of Internet in steel.
