Jaipur, Aug 24: Having gained rich experience in the lignite mining, the Rajasthan State Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (RSMC) has approached the state government to allow it to undertake more mining operations so that the lignite could be used as a fuel for energy generation. The Corporation at present runs the Giral lignite deposit in the Nagaur district and last year the total production was worth Rs 14.32 crore.For the current year, it has firmed up plans to increase the production of lignite to Rs 16.50 crore, and at the end of June the production achieved was worth Rs 5.72 crore. "We are keen to use our knowledge in the lignite mining for bigger operations" says NK Berwa, chairman and managing director of RSMDC.
Berwa told The Financial Express here on Monday that RSMDC would be willing to supply to any corporate the lignite to be used in power generation. "We have talked to the government in this respect" he said.
Cement plants and brick manufacturers are the major buyers of lignite from the Corporation but a huge market exists. "We have ordered a market study as we are keen to tap the entire market" said the CMD.
