Mumbai, Aug 14: A mixed trend was noticed in the pulses on the grains market. Cereals ruled quietly steady.Urad Myanmar ready eased from Rs 2,350 to Rs 2,300-2,325. Deals for incoming consignments have halted in the wake of high volatility of rupee exchange rate. Moong Myanmar medium were on offer at Rs 1,600-1,650 and superior at Rs 1,700-1,800, down by Rs 100 following increased supply of domestic new crop. Likewise, Thailand moong fell to Rs 1,550-1,600. Green peas USA Rumba/ Heart were on offer at Rs 1,200 and Canada at Rs 861. White peas Canada were slightly better at Rs 951-961.
Kabuli continued to present an improved stance on tight supply for bold material. A-2, Mexico were in demand at Rs 4,000 and Canada/ USA at Rs 3,700-3,800. B-2 Canada were placed at Rs 3,600, Australian at Rs 3,400-3,500 and Turkey/ Iran at Rs 3,000-3,300, better by Rs 100.
Rajma red new Myanmar were steady at Rs 1,300-1,400 but old lost Rs 50 at Rs 1,200-1,250.
Wheat MP Lokvan medium ruled at Rs 811-855 and superior at Rs 925-950 a quintal. MP 147 and sarabati were traded at Rs 900-1,000 and at Rs 900-1,200 respectively.
Rice Gujarat-17 were quoted at Rs 1,200-1,400 and SLO at Rs 950-1,150.
Yarn unchanged
Trading remained very restricted on the yarn market. Prices, generally, ruled unchanged.
Polyester yarn grey first quality of medium sized units 80 dn roto were placed at Rs 88-90 and micro roto at Rs 98-99 a kg. 80 dn weft ruled at Rs 84-86. 80/1,000 dn and 80/1,400 dn were on offer at Rs 117-118 and at Rs 123-125 respectively.
150 dn weft ruled at Rs 69-70 and single roto at Rs 72.
VFY cones 120 dn bright and dull were placed at Rs 205 and at Rs 206 respectively.
Cotton steady
A steady trend prevailed on the cotton market with selective buying support.Modest buying inquiry was noticed in V-797 and Bijapur LRA. Deamnd in Sanker, however, has ebbed for the past couple of days.
V-797 ruled at Rs 13,700-13,900, Morabi wagad at Rs 13,200-13,300 and Kalan ginned at Rs 12,700-12,800 a candy spot. Sanker medium at Rs 18,000-19,000 and superior at Rs 19,500-20,500 ruled steady.
Ready Punjab J-34 saw ginned good average ruled Rs 1,870-1,890, cart selected at Rs 1,940-2,000 and Bengal deshi at Rs 1,070-1,115 a maund spot. New crop October delivery J-34 saw ginned good average ruled at Rs 1,700-1,740 and Bengal deshi roller ginned at Rs 1,100-1,125.
Sugar listless
A steady trend was generally noticed on the sugar market with moderate activity.
M-30 ruled at Rs 1,545-1,570 while S-30 at Rs 1,518-1,545 a quintal ex-godown. Ex-octroi checkpost, the prices were Rs 1,525-1,530 and Rs 1,505-1,525 respectively.
In mill tenders, M-30 were indicated at Rs 1,470-1,480 and S-30 at Rs 1,450-1,460 in Kolhapur line.
Yellow metal swings
Gold prices moved in both ways and closed firm while silver finished on a mixed note on the bullion market here today. Standard gold placed Rs 5 up at Rs 4,520 per 10 gm. Gold .22 carat was up by same margin at Rs 4,180 per 10 gm. Prices of gold biscuit (116.50 gm.) hardened by Rs 100 at Rs 52,900 per piece. Traders reported brisk seasonal buying for gold ahead of festival while tight suplies and recovery in the global prices kept offerings limited during the day. In the overseas market gold looked up from $275.15 to $275.25 per ounce. Setback in dollar value against rupee in the domestic market had little impact on the bullion prices, dealers said.
Silver .999 closed steady at Rs 8,040 per kg. Silver .916 eased by Rs 20 at Rs 7,900 per kg following renewed inflow of raw silver from local sources, it was learnt. In the global market silver slid from $4.91 to $4.90 per ounce.
Castor oil dips
Groundnut oil closed steady at the reduced level on the oil,oilseeds market here today. Castorseed and its oil on the other hand crashed in absence of overseas support coupled with expectation of higher new crop.
Groundnut oil ruled quiet at Rs 400 per 10 kg amidst lower than expected festival buying coupled with scattered supplies. In Rajkot it went up and quoted at Rs 690/695 per 15 kg.
Imported palm oil edged down a rupee to Rs 215 per 10 kg. Slide in dollar value against rupee and weak overseas advices attributed to the downward trend, dealers said. In the global market palm oil declined by $5 at $290 per tonne for nearby delivery and at $295/305 per tonne for long delivery, it was learnt.
Castor oil moved down by Rs.3 at Rs 340/352 per 10 kg. Castorseed ready dropped by Rs 15 at Rs 1,550 per quintal in sympathy.
In the future section castorseed September delivery reacted from Rs 1,527 to Rs 1,517 and December delivery from Rs 1,422 to Rs 1,390 per quintal, floor sources said.
In Ahmedabad September delivery fell to Rs 1,490 and December delivery closed at Rs 1,389 per quintal. Spot prices of castorseed softened to Rs 280/285 per 20 kg in Gujarat, it was learnt.
Brass edges up
Brass sheets cutting edged up while copper wire bar eased on the non-ferrous metal market here today.Brass sheets cutting edged up to Rs 102 per kg from Rs 101.50 previously on stray demand from industries. However, copper wire bar eased to Rs 140.50 per kg from Rs 141 previously due to poor offtake.
Delhi
Quality cloves edged up by Rs 10 at Rs 280 a kg on firm producing countries advices and quality black pepper No. 12 and cardamom brown Kanchicut looked up by Rs 5 a kg due to paucity of ready stock while cardamom small colour Robin common quality slipped by Rs 10 at Rs 470-490 a kg as offerings of new cardamom at the auction centres of the south was reported higher.
