Escosoft Technologies eyes acquisitions in US, UK

New Delhi, Aug 14: Escosoft Technologies Limited (ETL), the IT arm of the Escorts group, is eyeing acquisitions in the United States and the United Kingdom, besides India, as part of its growth plans.

ETL, which is working towards launching its first computer-based 3D game in the US market by the end of this fiscal, will acquire companies that provide synergy in core technology and marketing strength, Escosoft Technologies chief executive officer AD Mehta told UNI here.

The acquisitions are likely to be in place over the next one year. Targeting to record profits in the next fiscal, ETL is also exploring the option of announcing an initial public offering over the next two to three years.Escosoft is currently engaged in the business of producing interactive software targetting the entertainment industry. "We are in the process of completing prototype of our first game and are in talks with several US-based companies for marketing the same in the US market."

ETL, which commenced operations in September last year, has already set up an office in the US and intends to have over five representative offices there by 2002-03.

The company has approvals to incorporate subsidiaries in US, UK and Singapore. These subsidiaries will enable the marketing of on-site and off-shore software development capabilities and products. In addition, Escosoft has also set up a 50-50 joint venture with Computer Associates International Inc for providing software solutions in the healthcare and telecommunications sectors. As part of its future plans, Mehta said, the company will focus on consolidation and building of existing business areas as well as foraying into emerging technology markets. At the existing software centre here, the company plans to have a team of 150 IT professionals by the end of this year from 75 now.
