Dhadkan.com cedes 25 per cent equity to Nagpur-based investor

Mumbai: Dhadkan.com, a comprehensive music site which went live in January 2000, has divested 25 per cent of its equity to a Nagpur-based angel investor, according to Sidharth Taparia, Founder of Dhadkan.com. Taparia also said that the site has tied up with the US-based Indiaplaza.com which was recently integrated with Satyamonline. Indiaplaza.com will serve as Dhadkan's e-commerce partner. The music site is also in the final stages of negotiation with a US based developer of Secured Digital Music technology which will basically enable the site to get into the payable downloads segment."We plan to put the model in working order and then look fof the first round of funding" says Taparia.Indiaplaza with its logistics infrastructure in the US, UK, Singapore and India is in a position to undertake e-commerce fulfilment for Dhadkan.com in these countries according to Taparia. That is as far as `published music' or music which already exists in various formats is concerned. As far as unpublished music is concerned, Taparia plans to strike revenue-sharing deals with artists for whom Dhadkan will maintain micro sites on which the artist's works will be sold. The site already has tie ups with about 50 artists for this purpose, according to Taparia. Dhadkan.com currently has a catalogue of over 3,000 albums across various genres.
