Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has decided to cover more villages under RajNidhi information kiosks scheme in the near future.The RajNidhi Information Kiosk at Nayala was visited by US President Bill Clinton during his visit to India some months ago. Clinton was highly impressed by the working of the Kiosk and the growing interest exhibited by the villagers about the services it renders.The traditional form of governance is getting replaced in Rajasthan where none had heard the name of Internet until a few months back. "We are lucky that the people are showing greater interest in the e-governance" says a senior official.
The use of RajNidhi has made people get easy information with greater transparency. It is a Web-enabled information kiosk system designed and developed by the department of information technology, government of Rajasthan. The Rajasthan State Agency for Computer Services has also given its technical backup in its development, says Rahit K Singh, managing director.
Information related to health, family planning, immunisation schedules for children, employment, transportation, distance education, agriculture, water and electricity connections, birth and death registration, approved housing societies, rates of land and buildings tax etc could be easily had by the villagers by using the device.
The `help centre' of RajNidhi provides information such as the process of obtaining electricity and water connections, their current rates and places where bills could be deposited.
RajNidhi also provides different forms and procedures for obtaining various certificates like the caste and bonafide resident etc. In addition information regarding the ration card, electoral rolls and other services related to the district collectorates could also be had.
Print-outs and forms for obtaining driving licence, vehicle registration etc The Internet also provides an opportunity to the people to contribute to the policy making process. Complaints could also be made to the Chief Minister.Information in regard to the tourist interest, various fairs and festivals, forts, palaces, sanctuaries etc could also be had. The kiosks will also make available information regarding the investment opportunities in the State.
