New Delhi, Aug 11: The Gas Authority of India Ltd (Gail) is planning to lay two new LPG pipelines in southern India at an estimated cost of Rs 1,100 crore to fully utilise the increased gas availability in the region.GAIL is planning to lay the Vizag-Vijayawada-Secunderabad LPG pipeline in Andhra Pradesh at cost of Rs 502 crore which is scheduled to be completed in 36 months from the date of board approval, petroleum ministry sources said.
The company, in its presentation to petroleum minister Ram Naik, said that the 600 km long pipeline will have the capacity to carry 1.06 million metric tonnes of LPG.
Similarly, GAIL also proposes to set up a pipeline called the Mangalore-Bangalore-Coimbatore LPG pipeline at an estimated cost of Rs 600 crore, the sources said. GAIL is likely to place the project before the board for approval in October or November, they said.
The 550 km-long pipeline will have the capacity to carry 1.1 million metric tonne of LPG. GAIL is expecting to complete the project within 36 months from the date of board approval.
