BBC World to broadcast IT programmes in September

New Delhi: BBC World, the 24-hour English language news and information channel of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) today said keeping in line with the emerging digital economy it would roll out a series of programmes focusing on IT and Internet, to subscribers across the country in September."BBC world would be broadcasting a special season of programmes devoted to the digital age to explore the latest technology, gadgets and the emerging trends in digital age this September," Narendhra Morar, commissioning Editor of BBC World, said while addressing a seminar on "Dotcom Economy". Morar said that as part of the upcoming programmes, BBC World would beam the webstory.com, a series of three programmes tracing the past and future of the worldwide Web (WWW).Other programmes include Digital Planet, a five part series on communication technology and "Hate on the Net" focusing on "Hate" sites hosted on the Internet by extremist groups. BBC world which currently broadcasts a weekly programme `IT: India Tomorrow,' with focus on Internet sites, product updates and technological trends, reaches out to 8.5 million homes in the country, he added.
