Bangalore, July 26: Intel Dialogic is currently marking out its strategic focus plan for the SAARC region, especially India, to focus on building Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) solutions for basic utility services across the country. Dialogic Corporation, which was acquired by Intel in a deal worth $800 million, currently operates in India through a value added reseller channel and technology partnerships, to develop solutions based on the Dialogic CTI platform. The company currently has technology alliances with companies like Encore Technologies Ltd, Kshema Technologies and Hughes Systems, etc., along with its 20-strong reseller team of companies like BPL, SISL, Serviont, etc., for solutions in the areas of VoIP, CTI, FoIP, etc. Speaking on the technology focus areas, Dialogic Division areas sales manager (Southwest Asia) Anil Sabnis told eFE that India was a potentially huge market for CTI integration solutions, especially in the basic services segment.
"The focus in a market like India is to make CTI a household technology and considering its flexibility to integrate multiple languages, it will be an extremely viable technology option to increasingly automate services across various segments," Sabnis said. Over the next two years IT-enabled services are estimated to almost double in market size owing to the increased demand.
Toll free services, virtual calling cards, tele-banking and VoIP services would throw open the market for large scale CTI solutions, he added. As for new initiatives, Dialogic is currently exploring the tele-booking and enquiry options for basic utility services and the pre-paid SIM card segment (of which Dialogic already has a major market share). To this end, the company was working out solutions for gas booking services via the telephone, virtual calling card solutions which is likely to go on stream in Kerala shortly and tele-trunk call booking services (which has been initiated in Calcutta, Kerala and Mumbai), Sabnis said.
"In most booking services, the dependency on the operator is extremely high and with infrastructure shortfalls customers find it an inconvenience. CTI solutions can make these services available for the customer anytime and from anywhere using the easily accessible telephone," he added. With a view to leverage some of the emerging market opportunities, the company is also drawing up a focus plan to look at the fault services booking and developing changed numbers enquiry engines for the telecom service segment.
"SISL has bagged the tender to develop the solution for the Fault Services Booking to implement the solution on a national level. The entire solution will be developed on the Dialogic platform," he said. As part of the convergence thrust, Dialogic is also actively looking at the media/entertainment and convergence segment. Incidentally, the dial-in solution for the latest media blitz `Kaun Banega Crorepati' has been put together by Delhi-based Parsec and Dialnet based on the Dialogic platform.
"Similar media-related solutions, speech recognition services - especially in the SAARC region, call-centre applications and unified messaging services which integrate voice, fax, mobile and e-mail services to offer a single point access and pick up service to the customer are a key focus," Sabnis added. Dialogic had put together a portfolio of solutions aimed at the UMS messaging and related solutions which could enable services like e-mail readers for ISP's, Fax-store and forward and Fax-email-Fax services, he said.
