Philips India offers VRS at Kalwa plant to slash staff-strength to 150
Philips India Ltd has introduced another voluntary retirement scheme at its integrated lighting factory in Kalwa, Mumbai. Notified on July 24, the VRS is the company's second this year, with the first having closed on March 31, 2000.

Marico Q1 net vaults 96 per cent to Rs 12 cr
Marcico Industries has reported a net profit of Rs 11.8 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2000, against Rs six crore in the corresponding period last year. This represents a growth of 96% during the period.

Abbott Labs Q1 net surges 51 per cent to Rs 1.65 crore
Abbott Laboratories (India) has registered a 51% increase in net profit to Rs 1.64 crore for the quarter ended June, 2000, against Rs 1.08 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Net sales rose by 19% to Rs 28.68 crore from Rs 24.08 crore in the previous year.
