MRTPC awards compensation to MTNL subscriber

New Delhi, July 10: The monopolies and restrictive trade practices commission (MRTPC) has directed mahanagar telephone nigam ltd (MTNL) to pay Rs 10,000 to a subscriber as compensation for inconvenience and loss suffered by him due to disconnection of his telephone.Stating `the amount so awarded be reasonable and adequate', the two member bench RK Anand and M Mahajan also awarded Rs 5,000 as litigation cost to the complainant and directed MTNL to discontinue and desist from indulging in such unfair trade practices in future.
