Pentasoft Tech net rockets 467% to Rs 30 crore in Q1

Chennai, July 6: Pentasoft Technologies Ltd has registered a net profit of Rs 29.9 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2000, against Rs 5.2 crore last year, an increase of 467 per cent. The turnover stands at Rs 132.9 crore (including other income of Rs 1.61 crore) of which exports contributed around 83 per cent (Rs 109.3 crore). For the corresponding quarter of the previous year the turnover was Rs 20.1 crore.

The gross profit for the current quarter stood at Rs 42.7 crore compared to Rs 7.4 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. The increase was mainly on account of the acquisition of the business software division of Pentamedia Graphics. The company has been assessed at SEI CMM level 4 by KPMG Consultancy Pvt Ltd. It has established a software development centre at Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh. It has also taken up around 100,000 sq ft in Tidel Park, Tamil Nadu.

The enterprise division has contributed around 72 per cent (Rs 94.2 crore) of the total turnover. Over here, the banking and financial division contributed 19 per cent, insurance division around 28 per cent, supply chain solutions around 23 per cent and internet and e-business solutions 27 per cent, products and services 3 per cent.

The engineering services comprising computer aided design (CAD), geographical Information System, Embedded and process control alignment accounted for 20 per cent (Rs 25.9 crore) of the quarter's total turnover. The division has forged alliance with global giants in CAD/CAM services. 3CRC has entered into an agreement with Geologik Software GmbH of Germany for marketing of software products of the latter including Profil Tec, Hydro Tec, Soil Tec and GSIS.

The education and training division contributed around 8.46 per cent (Rs 11.1 crore) of the total turnover in the first quarter. The company opened 14 more franchise centres taking the total to 135 and opening of six more own centres (total 15). An agreement was entered with National Institute of Fashion Technology for offering e-commerce courses as a co-certification programme.
