Telco accepts 1,812 early separation applications

Jamshedpur, July 6: Tata Engineering, formerly known as Telco, which produces heavy commercial vehicles here, has accepted applications of 1,812 of the 2,099 employees who had sought early separation from the company.The company had for the first time floated on May 8 an early separation scheme for around 11,000 of its employees eligible for availing of the scheme. Company sources said that of the 2,099 who had applied for ESS, applications of 287 employees were rejected on various grounds. The last date for submitting the applications for the scheme was June 30.Telco has from June 26 last curtailed its three-shift daily schedule to a single-shift one. It is at present producing around 100 vehicles a day in place of around 150 it was producing some time ago.
