What high export growth could mean
This year's export surge, if sustained, could pave the way for a reform initiative. This is not, however, how the 30% export spurt of April-May is viewed. Exports are considered peripheral; they account for less than ten per cent of GDP. So export growth gets less attention than it deserves.
