Coimbatore, June 27: The Karnataka government is mulling a new textile policy for the state. Talking to The Financial Express, Karnataka minister for textiles and sericulture M Mahadev said a new comprehesive textile policy will be formulated for the state soon.``We are deliberating on the whole issue. We are waiting for the Central government to announce it's policy,'' he added. However, the new policy would be framed only after carrying out a thorough sectoral study of the state's textile industry. ``We will encourage handlooms, silk industry, powerlooms and apparels.
All infrastructure facilities like land and power will be provided to boost the textile industry in our state,'' Mahadev, who was in Salem recently to address the all India textile conference, said. Karnataka had it's last textile policy in 1993.
