Apollo Hospitals net spurts 85%to Rs 12 crore

New Delhi, June 27: Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, a 695-bed, multi-speciality tertiary care hospital, has reported an 85 per cent spurt in its net profit which rose to Rs 12.08 crore. The spurt in net profit came on the heels of a 23 per cent jump in total turnover to Rs 138.43 crore. During the year, the hospital performed 15583 sugeries/surgical procedures, up 26 per cent over the previous year's figure. The surgeries included 1507 cardiac surgeries, 903 neuro surgeries and 224 transparent surgeries. The company says that the average length of stay per patient was getting progressively shorter. Average stay dropped from 6.7 days in 1997-98 to 6 days in 1998-99 and further to 5.4 days during 1999-2000, which is comparable with world class hospitals.
