Etching -- Birla 3M introduces Scotchcal special effect films

New Delhi, June 19: BIRLA 3M has introduced a new concept in etching with a range of special effect films. The Scotchcal Special Effects Films offer great flexibility to the user, allowing them to achieve etched glass doors, windows and panels at minimum cost and effort.

The Scotchcal 7725 films, introduced initially only in the Mumbai market, are available in two forms-dusted and frosted, and a range of colours that creates an etched or sand-blasted effect on glass or acrylic, without the need for actually sandblasting and etching. The range is priced at Rs 110-130 per sq feet.

Birla 3M's Commercial Graphics Division caters to the signage industry and has a range of products catering to technology platforms like computer curt/electro cut, screen printing and digital printing. It is a consultant for innovative graphic solutions to companies like Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil, Citibank, ITC and Pepsi.

The company has introduced over 2,000 diverse products in the industrial, automotive and chemicals, electrical, telecom, healthcare, consumer and office markets over the last nine years. Having already invested Rs 3 crore in setting up an Innovation Centre to showcase its entire range under one roof, it plans to increase this investment to Rs 10 crore over the next five years.

3M is a US $15-billion global giant which manufactures over 50,000 innovative products covering a diverse range of markets, ranging from aerospace and office to construction sites and homes.
