Mumbai, June 19: Production of toothpaste at the Nepal unit of Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd's wholly-owned subsidiary Colgate-Palmolive (Nepal) has been disrupted following a recent blast by a terrorist group. The blast took place on the night of June 15, after a small armed group forcibly entered the plant at Hetauda Industrial Estate and detonated two explosive devices.
Colgate-Palmolive (India) said in a notice to the Bombay Stock Exchange: ``This has caused damage to the plant and the extent of the damage is being assessed.''
However, it added that while the blast will disrupt production of toothpaste in the Nepal plant for a few days, "the company has enough productivity capacity and flexibility to continue to meet the demand for toothpaste both in India and Nepal."
The company has said that there has been no casualty and action has been taken for filing the insurance claim. ``The disruption will not affect the ability of the company to meet the said demand on a continuous basis. This will notimpact operations and profitability of the company for the current quarter and year,'' the company has said.
