Mumbai, June 16: The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee is scheduled to visit the Bombay Stock Exchange on July 9. Vajpayee will kick off the 125th anniversary celebrations of the exchange.According to sources, the function would also felicitate some old brokerage firms, which have been in existence even prior to the setting up of the exchange. Meanwhile, the BSE will soon be submitting its proposal for introducing Continuous Net Settlement at the exchange. "We will be submitting our proposal to the Sebi soon," vice-president Deena Mehta told The Financial Express. As soon as the in-principle approval is received from the securities regulator, the exchange will go ahead with its plans to introduce the new format, she added. It may be recalled that on Wednesday, the Sebi board had approved the introduction of CNS in the Indian bourses.
So far as BSE's proposal for a stock-lending and borrowing scheme is concerned as well as the dispute over Nse's Automated Stock Lending and Borrowing Mechanism (ALBM), Mehta said that both the issues would have to be settled by Sebi before any further progress could be made.
