IndiaServer.com hires two new directors

Priya Srinivasan
Mumbai, May 24: IndiaServer.com, the US-based India specific horizontal portal has appointed Karan Ahluwalia from Rabo India as director, business development and Anup Srivastava who was until recently with the Aditya Birla Group as director, financial services. Srivastava and Ahluwalia currently manage all of the portal's activities in India.

In the past weeks the portal has tied up with Birla Global to offer co-branded investment and non-investment financial products and services. IndiaServer has also tied up with Birla Sunlife. "We will be distributing all sorts of financial products ranging from Mutual Funds, debentures or IPOs through this alliance" explains Srivastava. Birla Sunlife is a third party distributor of financial products.

IndiaServer is also believed to be in negotiations with several other finance companies and portals among which are ICICI and eMecklai, the leading forex dealer.

While Srivastava will be responsible for building the online financial services business for IndiaServer, Ahluwalia is in charge of buidling specific channels within the portal in the areas Education, sciences and Travel and Entertainment.

"We are now scouting for channel partners in all of these areas including the Womens' segment" says Ahluwalia. "The portal sees about 12 million pageviews" says Srivastava "a bulk of this is from the NRI populace and we're looking at targeting this consumer base for our products and services" he adds. The portal has been promoted by NRI, Dinesh Ahluwalia and a cluster of US based individual investors. The company is believed to be in the process of placing about 25 per cent of its equity with BPL Innovision.
