Kavitha Rajasekhar
Pune, May 24: With Pune now on the infotech fast track, the Baramati-based high-tech IT school -- Vidya Institute of Information Technology (VIIT) -- is all set to go on stream by June with specialised IT courses.

The institute has drawn up an extensive student education program including tie-ups with leading universtities to offer their courses. Its recent alliances include the Carnegie Mellon University of the US and Warwick University of UK to offer affiliated masters and advanced engineering courses via the distance education system.

The courses will shortly be imparted real-time through video conferencing.VIIT has also tied up with large IT majors like Oracle and Global Tele Systems Ltd to offer job-linked courses specific to the companies' technology areas.

VIIT has also been granted the class B ISP licence and has applied for an international gateway. The entire institute's network runs on its own fiber optic backbone and with the International gateway coming up 24-hour high-speed Internet connectivity will soon be available.

BE Computers and Information Technology (four year course) and an MCA(three year course) affiliated to AICTE would also be offered starting June, Goje said.
