Kerala Telecom, Fed Bank to offer online payment facility

Thiruvananthapuram: Anyone with an Internet connection and a bank account would soon be able to pay telephone bills at the click of a mouse in Kerala: for, Kerala Telecom and Federal Bank are to provide an online payment facility in three months time.Kerala Telecom, which initially is to tie-up with Federal Bank, will also have similar arrangements with other banks so that more telecom subscribers can avail this convenient facility by sitting at home, according to PP Ramachandran, principal general manager, Kerala Telecom.

At present, Chennai Telecom Circle and MTNL are reported to have unveiled this facility in association with a few new generation banks such as HDFC. For availing the `payment through Internet facility', the telephone subscriber would have to log on to the Kerala Telecom Website, which would then lead to the Federal Bank Website for validation and execution of the money transfer.The service will be provided free by Federal Bank, according to Kerala Telecom officials. Kerala Telecom has also introduced the bar coding in bill statements to process the bills faster when it is presented.
