Bridgestone ACC sales up in March

Rupali Mukherjee
New Delhi, April 10: Bridgestone ACC India Ltd (BAIL) said it has sold 1.8 lakh passenger radial tyres in March 2000. According to a company statement, this is the first time any tyre company has sold such a large quantity of passenger radials in a single month.

The company, a joint venture between the Japanese tyre giant Bridgestone and ACC, claims that it commands a 27 per cent market share in the Rs 300-crore Indian radial tyre market. With this, it has become the largest selling passenger car and light van radial brand in the market. BAIL is the favoured OE fitment at Maruti Udyog, Daewoo, Hyundai, Telco, Ford, Honda and Hindustan Motors, a company statement said here.

The company has achieved ISO 9000 and QS 9000 quality norms and is at present working to obtain ISO 14000 certification, it added.
