Mumbai, April 10: If you ever want to enjoy a flight of fancy, you can betSahara Airlines is the one to look forward to. The pioneer of the fare warin the domestic aviation industry has now introduced a special `Take offer'scheme, which begins from Tuesday. The airline, according to a circularissued to travel agents, is offering passengers travelling on sectors likeMumbai-Bangalore-Mumbai, Mumbai-Mangalore-Mumbai, and vice-versa, a giftcoupon worth Rs 1,000 to buy a Titan watch.For two return tickets in these sectors, the scheme offers a Rs 2,000 couponto buy a Titan watch, or a coupon worth Rs 1,995 to purchase an Olympuscamera. Those who have three return tickets can avail themselves of either aRs 3,800 coupon to buy a Titan watch or a coupon worth Rs 3,850 to purchasean Olympus camera.
The scheme extends up to seven return tickets, whereby, a passenger isentitled to either have a Moulinex micro wave oven for Rs 10,950 or anOlympus camera worth Rs 7,500, plus a Titan watch for Rs 900. SaharaAirlines will also extend the special fare scheme for the summer seasonwhich lasts up to September 30, 2000. As per the scheme, for the keyMumbai-Delhi sector, a passenger has to shell out only Rs 4,666.
The airline recently tied up with the Taj group of hotels for a specialpackage, Business Plan, on the Mumbai-Delhi-Mumbai, Mumbai-Bangalore-Mumbai,and Mumbai-Mangalore-Mumbai sectors. The package provides for return economyfares and one night's stay in the Taj Hotel for Rs 12,333 on theMumbai-Delhi sector.
Sahara plans to start its new regional airline, Sahara Connect, by June, asenior official said. The airline has got the approval to purchase 12Embrier aircraft for Sahara Connect.
Sahara Connect is aimed at capturing a large chunk of the regional marketshare, which has, of late, been rising. Aviation analysts maintain domesticairlines can take on the competition only if they venture out into moreregional sectors.
The airline also recently launched Sahara Enterprises for executivetravellers. Sahara Enterprises provides the travellers with two businesslounges in the heart of New Delhi, where they can spend time before boardinga flight. It is believed the airline has chalked out plans to launch twosuch `City Centres' in Mumbai and Bangalore.
