Delhi -- the future IT capital!
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday announced that the state government has drawn a long-term plan to turn Delhi as number one cyber city by 2003 with e-governance as its backbone. Inaugurating the two-day geographic information technology conference, Map India 2000, she said with the Internet becoming popular in the country, the electronic governance is not a distance dream and for ensuring that the government has to launch a scheme for up gradation of PCOs into cybercafes which will further help Delhi become the IT capital of the country.
Servion bags largest third party call centre order in South India
Servion Global Solutions Ltd (Servion) has bagged the largest third party call center order in South India. Allsec has commissioned Servion to install its 300-agent third party call centre in Chennai, operational in June 2000. Allsec is India's first financial services company to set up a third party call center.The Allsec third party call center will handle calls from Australia initially and will cater to 23 other countreis shortly. This call center is designed to handle more than 10 million calls in its first year of opearation. The Allsec order value for phase I is Rs 1 crore .
JT Mobile rechristened Bharti Mobile
JT Mobiles, the cellular service provider in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh circles, has changed its name to Bharti Mobile Ltd. The name change comes in the wake of acquiring a majority stake in JT Mobiles by Bharti Enterprises.
Modi Telstra hits 50,000 subscriber base
Modi Telstra, Calcutta's cellular service provider has attained a customer base of 50,000 and has chalked out a comprehensive expansion plan. Barry Cooney, chief executive officer, Modi Telstra, said, "I am delighted to announce that our customer base has crossed the 50,000 mark".
