ICICI ADS closes at $15

Mumbai, March 30: The ICICI Bank American Depository Shares (ADS) remained a hot property on the second day's trading at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). After listing at $14, a 27 per cent premium over its offer price of $11, the bank ADS closed the day-1 at $14.25. The following day's trading saw the scrip consolidate its gains and close stronger by $0.75 at $15, after touching a high of $15.75 during the intra-day trade on March 29, 2000.Both trading days saw more than 1.5 million ADS change hands, indicating a sustained investor interest in the scrip.

Each ADS is represented by two underlying shares. The new generation private sector ICICI Bank, which is trading at the NYSE under the ticker symbol IBN, is the first commercial bank from India and the second from Asia to list on NYSE. It now joins its parent ICICI as the second Indian company to list on NYSE.

At the BSE, the ICICI Bank scrip opened at Rs 270 on Thursday, down from the previous day's close of Rs 271.25. During the day's trading, the scrip saw a low of Rs 260, and after touching the intra-day high of Rs 285, closed the day at Rs 267.50. However, the day's trading saw 9,90, 589 shares change hands at the BSE on Thursday.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), ICICI Bank scrip opened at the upper circuit at Rs 258.95 compared to its previous days close of Rs 239.75 and its price remained unchanged during the day's trade.
