CHENNAI, MARCH 30: Satyam Infoway Ltd is gearing to enter the field of online education in a big way by setting up a Satyam Education Centre.

The idea, Sify managing director R Ramaraj disclosed, is to enable the company focus in a high growth area which demands speedy delivery even while maintaining high quality standards.

Sify will through the SEC is building a web-based school to provide online education for corporates and individuals.

Ramaraj told The Financial Express said the company has already started training in IT sector but the Web-school is being designed to provide value-addition to all those who register with the SEC for education.

The Web-based education programme will be launched in the first quarter of this year. The company has roped in.

At present, testing of different models of online education is being done. Also, the programme content and support services are being evaluated. The company is talking to several education institutes running IT programmes to find out if they would be willing to be a partner in the education venture and agree for an arrangement to `Webify' the content of their programmes.

Ramaraj said details of the online education progammes, tie-up arrangements with local and foreign institutes and course fee costs are all being worked out.
