Palo Alto, March 20: Computer maker Hewlett-Packard Co and copier company Xerox Corp said on Monday they had resolved the pending patent-infringement lawsuits against each other.The companies said in a statement that they had agreed to settle to avoid the costs, time and distractions of lengthy legal battles.
Hewlett-Packard and Xerox said they had ``reached an amicable settlement on mutually satisfactory terms'' that dismissed all of their outstanding litigation. They include the six patent-related lawsuits filed between May 1998 and June 1999.
Xerox had filed complaints against Hewlett-Packard products that use inkjet, colour balancing, and resolution enhancement technologies. Hewlett-Packard had filed suits against Xerox products that use touchscreen user interface, inkjet, and image enhancement technologies.
The statement said that under terms of the settlement, neither party will disclose more details.
