Chennai, March 20: Indian Bank hopes to take a giant leap forward with its foray into Internet banking. For offering Internet banking, systems have been installed with customised software with service support from Essar Inc of the US.The Internet banking facility is to be officially launched soon thereby enabling the bank to become truly a global bank, official sources said while speaking to The Financial Express.
With this launch, Indian Bank will also join the big league along with other private sector banks like Citibank, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank etc.
Officials are excited about the prospect of tapping the huge potential of well-heeled NRIs from North America and Europe. They expect the funds flow into the bank to increase at least by 20 per cent as it already has a substantial NRI customer base.
All personal transactions of NRIs involving funds transfer from one branch account to another and payment for utilities, school and college fees and consumer goods purchase can be done instantly.
