Bangalore, March 20: Satyam Infoway Ltd, a Hyderabad based Internet service provider (ISP) will be setting up their first Indian Internet host centre at a cost of Rs 30 crores at Whitefield here.Satyam Infoway is one of the five software related product companies, besides nine other projects which were cleared attracting a total investment of Rs 316.12 crores by the Karnataka single window agency - Karnataka Udyog Mitra here on Monday.
Briefing newsmen on the projects cleared state industry commissioner V Baligar said the state had received a record investment proposal of Rs 2,083.57 crores during the current financial year surpassing the earlier years approval of Rs 1,862.26 crores. He said Microland Ltd, another infotech company, (Rs 43.45 crores), Philips Software Centre for embedded software (Rs 18 crores), EBS Infotech Ltd (Rs 4.71 crores) and Complete Multimedia Solutions Ltd (Rs 2 crores) were the other software projects cleared.
The US-based General Electric (GE) group to establish an Asian gateway has so far invested in Karnataka Rs 310 crores with the clearing of their medical equipment manufacturing project - GE Medical Systems, X-ray (South Asia) Ltd - on Monday, to be set up at a cost of Rs 10 crores at Whitefiled.
Onco Lab Pvt Ltd will set up an anti-caner drug (herbal) manufucturing unit at a cost of Rs 3.50 crores. Three sugar mills, one with a co-generation power plant at Bijapur were also cleared with a total investment of Rs 195.03 crores. One of the mills - Malnad Sugar Co Ltd belongs to former union civil aviation minister C M Ibrahim would be set up at Shimoga to produce 2500 TCD of white crystal sugar.
