New Delhi, March 19: Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has directed fertiliser, finance and external affairs ministries to resolve all the issues holding up the $1.1 billion Indo-Oman urea project saying it was important for the country from diplomatic and commercial angles.Vajpayee held a meeting on Monday last with the concerned ministers and the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission KC Pant to analyse the reasons for pendency of the project since April 1997, Government sources said.
When contacted, concerned ministry officials declined to comment on the deliberations of the meeting. However, the holding of the meeting set at rest the speculation that the Government would soon give a burial to the project. During the meeting, Vajpayee is believed to have asked the concerned ministers to resolve inter-ministerial disputes, including the cost and structuring of the projec.
