Visa and Nokia in e-comm pact
Visa International and Nokia announced a Cupertino agreement to introduce payment solutions for mobile electronic commerce. Under the agreement, Nokia and Visa will introduce a standardised means of making secure payments using a mobile phone, meeting different market requirements for security, risk management and dispute resolution.

Chowdary on BDPS board
TH Chowdary, the founding chairman and managing director of VSNL has joined the board of BDPS Software Ltd. He is at present the IT advisor to the Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. He was deputy director DoT and governor of Intelsat and senior official of Inmarsat.

Ajcon floats arm

Sindu Valley Software is planning to develop a software park at Kochi. The company has developed software for educational institution management system, hospital clinic management and financial accounting packages.

Micro Tech plans expansion
Micro Technologies (India), an IT solutions company, proposes to expand its activities in providing modular integrated software systems with Internet/Intranet Web-based solutions and e-commerce.

Amazon.com chairman earns paltry pay cheque
Jeffrey Bezos, chairman and CEO of Amazon.com, the world's largest online bookstore, earned $81,840 last year, according to papers filed with the SEC. By dot com standards, the pay cheque is paltry for a man who owns 33.6 per cent of Amazon's common stock and is valued at $7.4 billion. The e-commerce giant missed earnings expectations by losing $185 million.

INSAT-3B launch preparations completed
All preparations for the launch of INSAT-3B on March 22 had been completed at the launch-site at Kourou in French Guyana, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said.

Seminars on effective business presentation
Seminars on customer relations, e-commerce and effective business presentations will be held in Mumbai from March 25 under the auspices of the Maharashtra State Productivity Council.
