Seagate corners 68.5% of HDD market
Seagate has carved out a 68.5 per cent share of the Indian hard disk drive market by volume and as much as 72.5 per cent by revenue, according to an IDC India analysis.

The Indian HDD market grew by over 18 per cent in terms of units and 24.3 per cent in terms of revenue during the third quarter of 1999 over Q3 of last year, according to the report. About 3.7 lakh disc drives valued at Rs 202.5 crore were shipped during this period. ATA drives accounted for 94 per cent of the total number of units and 84 per cent in terms of revenue.

MTC India to implement Punjab e-governance plan
MTC India, a subsidiary of US-based $125 million MTC International, has received an order from Punjab government to computerise the state's tax department within a year. Punjab will thus be the first state to have a fully computerised taxation system. The state government has earmarked Rs 8 crore for the computerisation. MTC will also provide training to the 1,300 employees of the department on the use of computerised system.

Siemens in pact with SDRC
Siemens AG has tied up with design tools major SDRC and standardised on its solutions like I-DEAS and Metaphase Enterprise software and related services in eight out of its nine divisions. Siemens, a leading electrical engineering and electronics companies globally, has implemented more than 5,000 seats of SDRC software over the last seven years.

Stocking lots online
Range Apparels, manufacturers of knitted socks and tights have developed a portal, stocklotindia.com. The site enables importers from both India and abroad to source stock lots of garments, home furnishings, leather goods, etc. A statement issued by the company says that Stocklotindia will be promoted extensively to RAL's current database of clients.
